The inside cover of this astrally rare 1973 local TV guide contains the following blurb:
Maude is going strong during this, her second season on the air...and while many of the
episodes have dealt with controversial issues, others have been of a lighter vein. Such is the
case on this coming week's show, as our cover depicts. Beatrice Arthur (left), starring as
Maude Findlay, plays Miss Stars and Stripes for a high school charity musical production.
As shown, she has enlisted some help--(left to right) Adrienne Barbeau as Carol, representing
Asia: Rue McClanahan as Vivian, representing Europe: and Esther Rolle as Florida, who will
portray Africa. "Maude" airs on Tuesday evenings on the CBS Television Network.
* for those of you who haven't had the pleasure of seeing this episode, I will tell you it's certainly
never been one of my favorites, but Adrienne Barbeau's wildly frantic go-go dancing at the end must
be SEEN to be believed! I laughed so hard I almost peed in my pants!
